The IAEA has rotated its personnel to the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant in Enerhodar without the approval of Ukraine. Agency representatives traveled through territories seized by Russia, reported on March 1 by Radio Liberty correspondent Rikard Jozwiak and Russian propaganda media.
“What seemed impossible just a few days ago has happened. The IAEA has deployed its staff to the ZNPP through Russian-occupied territory without Ukrainian approval,” the journalist wrote.
Russian media, citing "Rosatom," confirmed that the IAEA has paved the way to the ZNPP through occupied territories. The propagandists claimed that the route taken by agency representatives was the first to traverse “Russian territory.”
It is worth noting that on February 28, Rikard Jozwiak, referencing unnamed sources, reported that the IAEA might carry out the rotation at the ZNPP solely through occupied territory – specifically, through Crimea. Jozwiak described this decision as a “bold move” by IAEA head Rafael Grossi, who “aims to become the next Secretary-General of the UN.”
At the time of publication, neither the IAEA nor Ukraine had commented on the situation.
