The Yavoriv District Court of Lviv Oblast issued a verdict against Alexander Ch., a native of Kharkiv Oblast, who had been absent from service for six months. The court sentenced him to 6 years of imprisonment.
According to the case materials, Alexander Ch. served in one of the brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine under mobilization. In May 2024, he deserted from his unit and spent time at his own discretion until November 21, when he was apprehended by law enforcement. The police informed him of the suspicion under part 5 of Article 407 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (desertion under martial law).
During the investigation, Alexander Ch. entered into a plea agreement with the prosecutor to acknowledge his guilt. Additionally, he had previously been convicted under part 1 of Article 129, part 1 of Article 345, and part 5 of Article 407 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Taking into account the circumstances of the case, Judge Natalia Shved found him guilty of desertion and sentenced him to 5 years of imprisonment. Considering his prior convictions, the court ultimately sentenced Alexander Ch. to 6 years of imprisonment. The verdict can be appealed.
