On Tuesday, January 7, meteorologists recorded the first temperature record of the year in Lviv. This was reported by the Lviv Regional Hydrometeorological Center.
On January 7, Lviv experienced a record-breaking high temperature for this date. The thermometer reached 11.7° Celsius. The previous record was set in 1994, when the temperature was 10.1° Celsius.
According to ZAXID.NET's commentary from the Lviv Hydrometeorological Center, the absolute maximum temperature in January in Lviv was recorded in 2002. On January 31, 2002, the temperature in Lviv rose to 13.8° Celsius. Notably, the Lviv Hydrometeorological Center has been collecting air temperature data for Lviv region since 1946.
“In Lviv, the temperature maximum on January 7 was not surpassed. However, temperature records throughout the history of observations have been noted in other cities of Lviv region. For instance, absolute temperature values were recorded yesterday in Yavoriv, where the thermometer reached 14° Celsius. The last time the warmest temperature was recorded in Yavoriv on this day was in 2002, at 13.7° Celsius. Also, absolute temperature values were noted yesterday in Mostyska, where the temperature rose to 14.8°. The warmest day on this date was recorded in 1975, at 14° Celsius,” said meteorologist Olena Smalyukh.
On Wednesday, January 8, the weather in Lviv region will be cloudy with clear spells. Rain and wet snow may occur in the afternoon. The wind will be south-west at 7-12 m/s. The temperature will range from 3 to 8° Celsius. In Lviv, the air temperature throughout the day will be between 5 and 7° Celsius. The coldest night was recorded in 1987, when the thermometer dropped to -27.5° Celsius, while the warmest day was noted in 1948, with a temperature of 13° Celsius.
