It is noteworthy that the Ukrainian resolution explicitly refers to the war as Russian aggression, reaffirms Ukraine's sovereignty within its internationally recognized borders, and calls for the establishment of a durable peace by 2025. The document demands that Russia completely and unconditionally withdraw all armed forces from the territory of Ukraine and cease military actions against Ukraine and any attacks on civilians and infrastructure.

US Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN, Dorothy Shea, stated at the General Assembly that previous UN resolutions condemning Russia's actions and highlighting its violations of international law had failed to stop the war. Therefore, the United States did not support the document.

Instead, the USA submitted its own resolution, expressing sorrow over the “tragic loss of life during the Russo-Ukrainian conflict.” The UN General Assembly also adopted this document. Specifically, 89 countries supported the resolution, 8 countries opposed it, and 70 abstained, including Ukraine.
