Military personnel from the "Vylok" department of the Mukachevo border guard unit apprehended five residents of Transcarpathia near the Ukrainian-Hungarian border. Two minors attempted to smuggle the conscripts into the EU.
As reported by the Western Regional Department of the State Border Guard Service on February 27, three conscripts were supposed to pay smugglers between 5,000 and 8,000 dollars. They were accompanied to the border by two young men.
“Border guards detected the offenders through remote monitoring of the area of responsibility. The apprehension of the violators was successful with the assistance of a service dog. All detainees are residents of Transcarpathia,” – stated the State Border Guard Service.
The men were charged with administrative offenses for illegal border crossing, and the case has been forwarded to court. Authorities are working to identify those involved in smuggling the conscripts.
