The President of the United States, Donald Trump, retracted his statement in which he referred to Volodymyr Zelensky as a "dictator without elections." This was reported by the American president during a meeting with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer at the White House, according to "Ukrinform."

Journalists asked Donald Trump whether he considers Volodymyr Zelensky to be a dictator. The U.S. president responded that he cannot believe he made such a statement.

"Did I say that? I can’t believe I said that," Donald Trump stated.

According to Donald Trump, he has a good relationship with Volodymyr Zelensky, which "might have become a bit strained." At the same time, the American president assured that he expects Volodymyr Zelensky in the U.S. to sign "a truly very important agreement for both sides." This refers to an agreement on rare earth metals.

Additionally, the U.S. president mentioned that he would discuss achieving peace in Ukraine with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer. Keir Starmer, for his part, confirmed that the UK along with Europe will work on a peace agreement for Ukraine.

Moreover, Donald Trump stated that the U.S. has had good negotiations with Russia and Ukraine, and he is confident that Vladimir Putin does not intend to attack Ukraine again.

It is worth noting that recently Donald Trump made several sharp comments regarding Volodymyr Zelensky. Among other things, on February 18, the U.S. president stated that the Ukrainian president has a low approval rating of 4%. The next day, on February 19, Donald Trump claimed that Zelensky is "a moderately successful comedian who convinced the U.S. to spend $350 billion." Additionally, he emphasized the necessity of holding elections in Ukraine and called Zelensky a "dictator without elections."

Furthermore, on February 23, during a press conference, Volodymyr Zelensky stated that he is ready to leave the presidency for the sake of peace in Ukraine or NATO membership. The Ukrainian president also mentioned that he is not offended by Donald Trump's comments.
