From February 25 to March 7, students in Transcarpathia will engage in remote learning. This decision was made during a meeting of the regional commission on emergency situations due to the rise in illness among children from ARVI, flu, and Covid-19.
As reported by the head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration, Myroslav Biletsky, over 9,100 residents of the region sought medical assistance within a week. The highest rates of ARVI and flu infections are observed in Uzhhorod, Tyachiv, Berehove, and Mukachevo districts.
“Experts are noting an average level of exceeding the epidemic threshold. Since the end of January, children aged 5 to 14 have been the most affected. Currently, restrictive measures are in place in 66% of general secondary education institutions and 51% of kindergartens in Transcarpathia. Despite this, the percentage of decrease in illness is quite minimal,” Myroslav Biletsky wrote on Facebook.
Remote learning in schools in Transcarpathia will last for 11 days. Decisions regarding the suspension or resumption of kindergarten operations will be made by local commissions on emergency situations.
It is worth noting that due to the increase in flu and ARVI cases, Uzhhorod students have been learning remotely since February 10.
