On the morning of January 9, a solid fuel boiler exploded at the Kamyanske Lyceum in the Berezniv district. The stoker died from injuries sustained at the scene. This was reported to ZAXID.NET by the police spokesperson for the region, Maria Yustytska.
“On Thursday, January 9, around 05:00, the watchman of the Kamyanske Lyceum heard an explosion from the boiler room. Upon arrival, the man found the lifeless body of the machinist, a 52-year-old local resident. He immediately reported the incident to the director, who then notified the police,” – Maria Yustytska explained.
In the Berezniv City Council, it was noted that the preliminary cause of the explosion was a violation of boiler operation regulations. Specifically, according to the investigation, it concerns a faulty water pump.
Investigators have opened a criminal proceeding under part 2 of Article 270 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of established fire safety requirements). The penalty for this article ranges from three to eight years of imprisonment. Police are currently determining the circumstances of the incident and those involved in the explosion.
