The Security Service of Ukraine in Lviv region uncovered a smuggling network for metal profiles.

The Territorial Department of the Bureau of Economic Security in the Lviv region has uncovered a smuggling channel for metal profiles organized by officials of one of the companies. The organizers had metal profiles worth 12 million UAH confiscated, reports the press service of the Bureau.

According to the investigation, a group of officials submitted documents for customs clearance and illegally imported rolled metal into Ukraine. As a result, the organizers evaded customs duties amounting to 8 million UAH.

During searches, Bureau detectives seized 14 cargo trucks with semi-trailers used for transporting the smuggled goods, documents, and 58 rolls of metal profiles. The estimated value of the confiscated items is 12 million UAH.

An investigation is ongoing under part 1 of Article 201-3 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – “Smuggling of goods.” Detectives are identifying all individuals involved in the illegal activities.
