The head of SpaceX, Elon Musk, stated that astronauts should be sent to Mars to investigate a mysterious "square structure." This was spotted on the surface of the Red Planet by NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, according to Daily Mail.

The image went viral online after being posted on Reddit, where many speculated that this unusual structure could be the first archaeological find on the Red Planet. The popular American podcaster Joe Rogan later shared this image, calling what he saw "incredibly wild."

In response to his old friend's post, Elon Musk commented: "We need to send astronomers to Mars for research."

Experts have yet to provide any scientific explanations regarding what this might be. Meanwhile, conspiracy theorists claim that "evidence of an alien civilization" has been found on Mars.

According to some estimates, the square structure measures approximately 235 meters on each side. Conspiracy theorists compare the size of the object to the Great Pyramid of Giza, which has sides measuring about 230 meters.

Calculations made using AI also suggest that the structure on Mars has a tilt of 51.5 degrees, similar to the Great Pyramid of Khufu.

Additionally, the image captured by the spacecraft has been enhanced online, revealing clearer lines in the photograph.

Currently, the origin of this structure on Mars remains unknown, but science recognizes several naturally occurring square-shaped objects. For instance, thousands of square and rectangular formations can be found in Tasmania, Australia. The mosaic "pavement" of Eaglehawk Neck is located about an hour's drive from Hobart, the capital of Tasmania.

The stones, resembling man-made tiles, are composed of siltstone and formed approximately 300 million years ago during the movement of tectonic plates.

Despite this, conspiracy theorists continue to assert that ruins of a lost Martian civilization have been discovered on Mars. However, the long history of similar findings on Mars indicates that they usually have very simple explanations.

For example, NASA's Viking 1 spacecraft captured an image in 1976 that was quickly dubbed the "Face on Mars." The reason was that one of the rocks in the photograph resembled a human head.

Later, NASA scientists determined that the "face" on Mars was merely a result of light and shadow play.

It's worth noting that another rock, resembling a human face, was found on Mars last year. It was captured by NASA's Perseverance rover as it traversed the Jezero crater.
