A resident of the Mukachevo district in Transcarpathia has been sentenced for killing a friend with an axe during a birthday celebration. The 19-year-old local was sentenced to 14 years in prison for his actions.
As reported by the Transcarpathian Regional Prosecutor's Office on December 19, the incident occurred in March 2024 in the village of Horonda in the Mukachevo region. Local residents were celebrating the birthday of one of the men. After the feast, the accused struck the victim in the head with an axe, resulting in the victim's death on the scene.
“The court hearing established that there had been animosity between the men for a long time. However, the 19-year-old from Transcarpathia did not admit his guilt and refused to provide any testimony in court,” law enforcement officials noted.
The prosecutor proved the guilt of the Transcarpathian in the commission of intentional murder, and the court sentenced the suspect to 14 years in prison. An appeal against the verdict may be filed.
