The Ivano-Frankivsk City Court found a 50-year-old native of the village of Protesy in the Stryi district guilty of violating traffic safety rules while under the influence of alcohol, resulting in the death of a victim. For causing a traffic accident that claimed the life of a 47-year-old resident of Lviv region, the driver of the Mercedes was sentenced to 5 years in prison.
This concerns an accident that occurred on July 14, 2024, in the village of Tomashivtsi, Kalush district. The accused, while intoxicated, left the roadway and collided with a concrete utility pole. As a result of the accident, one of the passengers in the Mercedes died at the scene from their injuries, while another was hospitalized at the Kalush Central District Hospital.
“It has been proven that the man committed a traffic accident while under the influence of alcohol. He fully admitted his guilt. Until the verdict becomes final, the accused will remain in custody,” – reported on December 10 at the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Prosecutor's Office.
The court sentenced the resident of Lviv region to 5 years in prison, along with a 5-year ban on operating vehicles.
