The Lutsk City District Court has ordered the confiscation of a dog owned by Volyn resident Leonid Melnytsky, which bit a passerby. The man was also fined 1700 UAH for violating animal keeping regulations.
According to the case materials, on November 7, 2024, around 16:00, a dog named Tuzik, owned by Leonid Melnytsky, jumped over the fence of a house and bit a passerby on the forearm and both wrists. The breed of the dog is not specified.
Police compiled a report against the pet owner under Part 3 of Article 154 (violating dog and cat keeping rules) of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses. In a written statement, the accused admitted his guilt.
Judge Valentyna Pushkarchuk imposed a penalty of a 1700 UAH fine on Leonid Melnytsky along with the confiscation of the animal. Additionally, he must pay 605 UAH in court fees. The ruling can still be appealed in the appellate court.
