Russia has launched a massive attack on several Ukrainian cities, resulting in casualties and injuries.

In the night of Sunday, February 23, Russian occupiers once again launched a massive attack on Ukraine, employing strike drones and missiles. The enemy's assault resulted in destruction, casualties, and injuries in the southern, central, and eastern parts of the country.

Approximately at 00:20 in Kyiv, explosions were heard – the city's mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that air defense was engaging enemy drones. Explosions occurred in the Darnytskyi and Holosiivskyi districts.

As a result of the Russian attack in the Darnytskyi district of Kyiv, a fire broke out in a single-story building. Additionally, a vehicle and a private residence were damaged. In the Holosiivskyi district, a fire also ignited on the territory of a private house covering an area of 100 m2. It was promptly extinguished, and there were no injuries or fatalities reported from the attack.

In Kryvyi Rih, Dnipropetrovsk region, a man was killed due to a Russian missile strike.

“Following the missile strike in Kryvyi Rih, as of now, there are two injured. One of them is in serious condition. A fire has occurred. An infrastructure facility has been severely damaged,” reported the head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration, Serhiy Lysak.

Later, the head of the administration reported five injured as a result of the Russian missile attack.

In Odesa region, in the Odesa district, enemy drones attacked residential buildings. As a result of the attack, three people were injured, and a private house caught fire.

Furthermore, the occupiers attacked Zaporizhzhia, where a 53-year-old woman sustained injuries. The city experienced a fire in the private sector, and there was damage to the facades of buildings.

According to the Air Force, there is also infrastructure damage in Poltava region; however, the local state administration has not yet reported on the consequences of the attack.

How many drones and missiles were shot down on February 23

The press service of the Air Force reported that the Russians attacked Ukraine with a record number of drones overnight – 267 strike UAVs and imitator drones of various types. The drones were launched from Russian cities including Oryol, Bryansk, Kursk, Shatalovo, Millerovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk, as well as from Cape Chauda in temporarily occupied Crimea. Additionally, the Russians fired three ballistic missiles “Iskander-M/KN-23” from the territory of Crimea.

As a result of the air defense's efforts, 138 Shahed-type strike drones and UAVs of other types were shot down. 119 imitator drones were lost in a localized manner without negative consequences.
