Two 22-year-old residents of the Kyiv region attempted to illegally enter Romania. After getting lost in the Carpathians, they called the emergency hotline of the State Emergency Service. Border guards located the evaders.
As reported by the Western Regional Department of the State Border Guard Service on November 11, the two men contacted rescuers and stated that they had lost their bearings at the border and needed assistance.
“Only in the early morning did one of the search groups of border guards come across the traces of the lost individuals. The exhausted and frozen 'tourists' were found a few kilometers from the village of Dolishnii Shepit in the Vyzhnytsia district of Chernivtsi region,” the State Border Guard Service informs.
It turned out that the 22-year-old residents of the Kyiv region were attempting to illegally enter Romania. The detained individuals explained that, on a friend's advice, they arrived at the border posing as tourists but miscalculated their abilities and got lost. The men were taken to the border unit, warmed up, given a chance to rest, and administrative protocols were drawn up against them for attempting to cross the border illegally.
