The Chervonograd City Court of Lviv Oblast found Iryna Rupa, the deputy head of the Sokalsky District Court, guilty of submitting false declarations amounting to 1.4 million UAH. The court imposed a penalty of 25,500 UAH in fines.
As stated in the ruling, which was published in the court register, the NACP conducted an audit of the declaration of the Sokalsky District Court employee and identified false information totaling 1.4 million UAH. The report published by the NACP mentions, among other things, undeclared 40,000 dollars in gifts that Iryna Rupa allegedly received from her parents living abroad, as well as a 10,000 dollar loan taken by her husband. A protocol on an administrative offense was drawn up against her due to the falsehood in the declaration.
Iryna Rupa did not appear 15 times at the court hearings regarding the administrative protocol, with police unable to bring her to court on six occasions. The court believes that Rupa's behavior is aimed at delaying the proceedings.
The prosecutor stated in court that Iryna Rupa has been regularly submitting income declarations since 2016 and did not indicate the presence of financial assets (savings). Specifically, in her 2021 declaration, the court employee did not disclose any savings belonging to herself or her family members.
“This indicates deliberate actions to conceal her assets. Only after the initiation of a comprehensive audit of the 2022 declaration did she include information about the gift received from her parents and the existence of financial assets,” the prosecutor asserted. In 2022, Iryna Rupa's husband purchased a residential house with a land plot in Sokaly, and in 2021, he acquired an apartment in Lviv.
Iryna Rupa's lawyer, during the only court session he attended, requested to dismiss the case and claimed that the NACP had miscalculated the amount of the gift (40,000 dollars) and misinterpreted his client's explanations.
This case was examined by Judge Mykola Novosad, who reviewed all materials and arguments. He found Iryna Rupa guilty of submitting false information in her declaration, imposing a fine of 25,500 UAH. The court ruling can still be appealed.
