The Air Force intercepted five ballistic missiles and 40 drones over Ukraine.

In the morning, the enemy launched five ballistic missiles at Kyiv.

On the night of Friday, December 20, Russian invaders launched another attack on Ukraine, utilizing strike drones, ballistic and aviation missiles. In total, the enemy fired 72 targets, reported the Air Forces.

The Russians began their attack at 7:00 PM on December 19. Throughout the evening and night, the airspace over Ukraine recorded:

  • a ballistic missile "Iskander-M," launched from the Rostov region;
  • a guided air missile X-59/69, launched from the Kursk region;
  • 65 strike UAVs of the Shahed type and drones of other types, launched from Bryansk, Millerovo, Oryol, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk.

“As of 09:30, 40 strike UAVs of the Shahed type and other types of drones have been confirmed shot down in the Kursk, Poltava, Sumy, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Dnipropetrovsk, and Zaporizhzhia regions. Due to the active resistance of the Defense Forces, 20 enemy imitation drones were locally lost (without negative consequences),” – the report stated.

According to the Air Forces command, as a result of the nighttime missile-drone strike, private and apartment buildings, medical facilities, warehouses, and farms were damaged in the Dnipropetrovsk, Sumy, Kyiv, and Kharkiv regions.

Additionally, around 07:00 on December 20, the Russians struck Kyiv with five Iskander-M and KN-23 ballistic missiles. The launches of air targets were carried out from the Voronezh and Bryansk regions of Russia.

“As a result of combat operations by air defense, all five Iskander-M and KN-23 ballistic missiles directed at Kyiv by Russian criminals were shot down. Unfortunately, following the treacherous enemy attack, there are consequences on the ground. The debris from the downed missiles caused damage and destruction in five districts of the capital, and sadly, there are fatalities and injuries,” – noted in the Air Forces.
