The first deputy head of one of the city councils in Volyn has been charged with official negligence that resulted in severe consequences. The official permitted illegal logging of trees between the village of Zelenе and the town of Berestetchko, causing damages of 3.9 million UAH. This was reported on October 31 by the regional prosecutor's office.
According to the investigation, in April 2023, the suspect, who is the head of the commission for surveying green spaces designated for removal outside populated areas and the city community, allowed the illegal logging of trees in the road reserve area between the village of Zelenе and the town of Berestetchko.
“This resulted in losses to the state, represented by the Service for Restoration and Development of Infrastructure in the Volyn region, amounting to nearly 3.9 million UAH,” the prosecutor's office stated.
For official negligence that caused severe consequences (part 2 of Article 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), the official faces a fine or imprisonment for a term of two to five years.
