In Krakow, during an arrest, three armed men threatened police officers with their weapons, prompting the officers to open fire. The assailants subsequently fled, and they are still being pursued. In connection with this incident, the police have detained a Kazakh and a Ukrainian for illegal possession of firearms. This was reported by RMF.
According to Polish journalists, the shooting began on the evening of Thursday, December 19, in the center of Krakow. Eyewitnesses spotted three men in a car armed with weapons. The police quickly responded to the call.
“When two officers arrived at the scene, one of the men pointed a weapon at them. The police opened fire, and the attackers fled in their vehicle, colliding with other cars. Patrol officers began chasing the criminals and nearby found an abandoned car with traces of blood,” RMF reported.
Following this, the Krakow police detained two men for illegal possession of firearms – a 24-year-old Kazakh and a 34-year-old Ukrainian. This information was confirmed to RMF FM by the spokesperson for the Krakow police, Katarzyna Cisło.
“The arrests are connected to the search for the three attackers, which has been ongoing since last night. We detained them in connection with the illegal possession of firearms. Later, we will clarify their involvement in the case,” the police spokesperson noted.
The abandoned vehicle is being examined by forensic specialists. Several hundred police officers participated in the nighttime interception operation. The police are currently reviewing footage from surveillance cameras. The three men who fled from the police and aimed at the officers are still being sought.
