In the Lviv region, the head of the district gas service management, who is also a district council deputy, was detained on suspicion of extorting a $20,000 bribe. This information was reported on Saturday, January 18, by the Strategic Investigations Department of the National Police.
«The suspect demanded and received an unlawful benefit from the head of an agricultural enterprise for resolving the issue of connecting the enterprise to the gas network. The official assured that he could facilitate a favorable decision regarding the issuance of technical conditions for the development of the appropriate project documentation. He also promised not to make changes to these technical conditions or cancel them later», – added the Office of the Prosecutor General.
He convinced the entrepreneur that if the money was not provided, he would create artificial obstacles to connecting enterprises to the gas network.
