The Kolomyia District Court has granted the prosecutor's claim and returned an 18-hectare pond to the Pidhaychyky community. The court ordered the former tenant, Ivan Romanov, to pay the village council over 14,000 UAH in debt.
As reported by the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Prosecutor's Office on October 29, the entrepreneur leased the pond with a coastal strip in the village of Dzhurkyv for 25 years in 2002.
“He did not use the water facility for its intended purpose and allowed the pond to become overgrown and shallow. As a result, the pond became partially unsuitable for use,” the law enforcement officials stated.
The case was heard in the absence of the defendant. The court decided to terminate the lease agreement and ordered Ivan Romanov to return 14,400 UAH in debt to the Pidhaychyky community. Additionally, the entrepreneur is required to pay 9,000 UAH in court fees.
