In Lviv region, an 8-year-old passenger of an ATV tragically lost his life in a traffic accident.

On the evening of Sunday, January 19, a fatal traffic accident occurred in the village of Zavadka in the Stryi district. An 8-year-old boy died after an ATV overturned and fell into a river. This information was reported by the police in the Lviv region.

According to preliminary findings by law enforcement, the 38-year-old driver of the ATV, a local resident, lost control, causing the vehicle to overturn and fall into the river.

The passenger of the ATV, an eight-year-old local boy, succumbed to injuries sustained in the accident while in the ambulance. The driver of the vehicle suffered injuries and was hospitalized.

In relation to the accident, investigators have opened a criminal case under Part 2 of Article 286 (Violation of Traffic Safety Rules) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The penalty under this article includes imprisonment for a term of three to eight years, along with a driving ban for up to three years, or without such a ban. Law enforcement officials are determining the circumstances of the incident.
