China has begun to restrict the sale of key components for drone manufacturing to Europe and the United States. These parts are also utilized by Ukrainian manufacturers. This was reported on Monday, December 9, by Bloomberg, citing sources.
Recently, China has started to cut sales to the U.S. and Europe of essential components used in drone production. According to the publication's sources, China plans to expand export restrictions starting in 2025.
“China is likely to begin issuing licenses based on the purposes for which the components will be used or require Chinese suppliers to inform the government of their supply plans,” the report states.
Such measures could complicate the availability of drones, particularly for Ukraine.
The reason for the restrictions is the escalation of the trade conflict with the U.S. It is known that Washington has limited the sale of high-capacity chips and semiconductors to China, while Beijing has prohibited the sale of a range of goods to the U.S. that could be used for military purposes.
It is worth noting that China is currently the largest producer of inexpensive drone components.
Recall that Ukrainian manufacturers have developed three alternatives to the Chinese Mavic drone. These drones meet NATO standards, feature electronic warfare protection, and have automatic landing capabilities.
