On Sunday, January 19, on the Lviv – Rava-Ruska highway in the village of Velyki Hrybovychi, a minibus driver struck a pedestrian. As a result, the 62-year-old victim died at the scene, while the driver fled the accident site.
According to the Lviv regional police, the accident occurred around 7:10 AM on the Ternopil – Lviv – Rava-Ruska highway in Velyki Hrybovychi. A 55-year-old local resident driving a Mercedes-Benz Vito minibus hit a 62-year-old man from the Lviv district. The pedestrian died at the scene from injuries sustained in the accident.
The driver left the scene but was later located by the police.
Following the incident, investigators opened a criminal case under part 2 of article 286 (Violation of traffic safety rules) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The perpetrator faces imprisonment for a term of three to eight years, along with a three-year driving ban.
