Detectives uncovered a well-known airline involved in tax evasion and arrested 7 aircraft on Tuesday, December 10. This was reported by the Economic Security Bureau.
“As part of a criminal investigation regarding large-scale tax evasion, under the ruling of an investigating judge, detectives from the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine have arrested 7 aircraft,” the report states.
Specifically, on December 10, the following were arrested:
Their estimated value is approximately $40 million.
Previously, detectives revealed a well-known airline involved in tax evasion. Its aircraft belong to a Cypriot company linked to two prominent Ukrainian oligarchs.
According to “Economic Truth,” citing sources in law enforcement, it is noted that these are the aircraft of “International Airlines,” associated with Igor Kolomoisky and Aron Mayberg.
It is worth recalling that UIA was established in 1992 as a joint venture between Ukraine and Western investors for flights from Kyiv to European countries using foreign aircraft. In 2011, the state sold its 61.58% stake in UIA to private individuals. Among them were the former owner of the bankrupt airline “AeroSvit,” Aron Mayberg, and Igor Kolomoisky.
In 2022, UIA suspended flights amid the full-scale war and due to the internal conflict between Mayberg and Kolomoisky. In October 2023, the airline's assets began to be sold at auctions held by the state enterprise “SETAM.”
